My name is Deanna and I inherited my love for photography from my mother, who is also a photographer. I got my first camera when I was about 6 years old- it was a plastic teddy bear shaped thing with a button on the top and a place to load the film in the back. This gift led to a bachelor’s degree in fine art photography, a career with several high end photography companies, and many amazing adventures around the world with my Canon in tow.

I love capturing people and places that touch my heart. I love hearing love stories. I enjoy watching the snow fall outside my beautiful mountain cabin and making friends with the local wildlife. I am a proud mother to two rescue boys, both Snow Tiger Siamese. I love chocolate cake, coffee, gardening, and rehabilitating injured wildlife. I try to honor my Native American heritage and incorporate my respect for the environment into my work, typically focusing on the blend between the past and present at historical sites. I most admire the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson, to a point that I believe his style shows up in my work.

I’ve been all around the world but have never felt more at home than in the Colorado mountains. There is something unique about everything here- from the fox that follows me to the mailbox, the chipmunk who sits on my shoulder, and the colorful mountain people and stories that they have brightened my world with….it’s all been beautiful.

When I make a portrait, I feel as if my subject comes out slowly, sort of like a painting. It’s an amazing process finding the person within. I enjoy showing people their inner beauty. The sooner we can all find our gifts, the sooner we can share them with the world.

I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark IV and Canon L glass lenses. I try to only use natural light and prefer to shoot outdoors during the magic hours.

In 2026 I finally attempted to write a dream I’d been having for 15 years. It became a screenplay, which was accepted into Call Sheet Media’s exclusive mentorship program. The script then placed as a Quarterfinalist at the Los Angeles International Screenplay awards and is still in consideration for several other contests.

I am thankful for each day I am given to express creatively. Please encourage all children to become fearless and to follow their dreams sooner rather than later.

Xoxo,

Deanna
